A good and right slipcover is stitched well. They should have a loosely constructed structure and shape. They should be made of a good quality of cloth that is comfortable to the human skin. They should not create a burning or itching feeling to the user. They should be inexpensive and durable. They should allow an individual to wash and clean easily.

Many such shops limited the selection available to customers, particularly if they were attached to a fabric shop. If so, it was common to require that the upholstery fabric be purchased from the related shop, or else the upholstery provider wouldn't use it.
